Your Destiny, Take Control: Part 2

Hey guys,

Welcome back! If you have just ventured from part 1 of this two-part blog series, and if you have just landed on this post by chance then you may want to click here, and have a little read of part 1 before reading this.

So this is part 2 and here is where we get down to business! Finding your destiny can be hard and I'm sure for those of you who have read part 1 you may already feel, overwhelmed, or perhaps even scared to tap into your purpose. But don't worry! You're not alone :) As always I have come up with some practical tips to help you on your journey.

I hope they are helpful!

                                                                              **

1. Find out what you're good at!

What are your skills and talents? What do you enjoy? Did you really enjoy food-tech during high school/ secondary school, but never thought to pursue it? Can you sing? Do you love making and creating things? Are you interested in History? Do you have the travel bug? Whatever it is that makes you tick, whatever makes you happy. Go for it! If you're not quite sure ask someone. It may seem silly but sometimes other peoples perspectives can help you see potential you're not aware of. (Ask the right people though!)

2. Work on those skills

So you've found out that you love numbers and want to become a bank manager. Wishful thinking is great for a minute or so, but actively seeking what you want is better! Apply for jobs, invest in courses, enrich yourself and do what is needed to keep you pushing forward. You know your destiny, now work for it!

3. Choose your battles! **Important**

In life there will be many things thrown at us, many tribulations we will have to go through. Some of these things will help strengthen and affirm us in our destiny whilst others will simply distract us and take the energy which we should be using to create our purpose.
So what if Lucy's mate said you're the most boring person on the planet. Do you really need to argue over it? I mean she's not even your friend! Whilst  this example may seem trivial and stupid a lot of us spend so much time and energy on things which do not concern us. Stalking *Insert name here* on instagram all day will not help you finish that report, doing your report will! Like I said, choose your battles; be efficient with your energy.

4. Finally (I've said it before, & I'll say it again) NEVER GIVE UP

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! Or in my case, stick the kettle on and make yourself some lemon tea ;). As one of the GREATEST artists on the planet once said;

' You have gotta lose your mind, just to find your peace of mind '

Life isn't always easy and things do not always make sense, but never give up! Even when you feel like you're going crazy and all that surrounds you is negativity keep moving forward. In these testing times show life, that your destiny, your purpose, cannot be taken away from you. It's who you are...

I've uploaded W.A.Y.S. (Why aren't you smiling) by Jhene Aiko for you guys to stop and listen to. It's a beautiful song and I find it quite inspirational and a fitting way to end this post :)

Have a lovely day people

Peace and Love

Your Destiny, Take Control

Hey Bloggers! :)

First of all I would like to wish you guys a Happy (Belated) Valentines day! Loved up or not, I hope each and every one of you spent it with someone you care about and you showed them just how cherished they are. Now as you can see this blog post is about... *drumrolls* destiny! This post will be a little different from my other posts as it will be in two parts. This is (obviously lol) Part 1. Find part 2 here.

Destiny is something I believe that we all possess but for some reason, somewhere along this tumultuous road called life a lot of us become unsure of what our destiny is and fail to see the potential we have to change this World, our World. Your destiny is your purpose, and without purpose, what is the point in anything?

So two months into the great 2015 (nearly three... :/) and what have you been doing with yourself? Although we're not even through a quarter of the year, now would be a great time to stop, think and reassess what you want from this year. If you're a student like myself I know exactly how crazy this time of year can be. We're basically nearly getting to the end, I mean it's basically March, so April is just around the corner and once that's done, May and then, BOOM! Exams. And that's it. A whole academic year done. :/ (Not scary at all).

I was thinking about this prospect the other day and it kind of reminded me of life and how quickly the years go by. I don't know whether it's just me but I often get a lot of nostalgia, reminiscing my 'youth' ("Playing out", rushing home from school just to watch Tracy Beaker, my mum doing my washing and ironing for me; the good old days!). Back then my biggest stress was my mum telling me to zip my coat up 'because it's cold' as I tried so urgently to rush out the door, now it's all 'When are you going to get a job' and 'You can't live here forever' :|:|:|:|. So in between the nostalgia and confusion I found myself one day pondering on the matter of destiny and what exactly mine is. Having a balance between taking control of your destiny and learning to let go and love life can be a confusing predicament indeed *distressed sigh*.

                                                                         **

     destiny
/destini/

noun

  • The hidden power believed to control events; fate.
Destiny is definately something I believe in. From a Christian point of view; God predestined us all to have some sort of destiny (purpose) on Earth, and purpose (I believe) is what makes us feel alive. If you are not religious or have different beliefs it doesn't mean that destiny does not apply to you, because it does! Everybody on this planet has one, even if they aren't aware of it.

But how do you know what your destiny is?

(If you're not one of these people who knew from the womb that they wanted to be an actress or whatever, contemplating what your destiny is, can be another annoying question added to the ever growing list of questions, that you do not know the answer to! *sigh*)

It's a tricky question and to answer it, you have to find yourself. And I mean this in the least patronising way possible, as I am aware finding yourself is no easy battle. And I've used the word battle because it is just that! Finding yourself means learning who you are, what makes you happy, what makes you sad, your skills, your weaknesses, your motivations, your thoughts, your emotions... It can take years to truly find out who you are but the key to learning about yourself is to NEVER GIVE UP.

Many people remain unhappy, doing things they are not destined for because they give up. They give up on believing that they are destined to be anything greater than what they already are, and that is truly sad :(

Having a go-getter/ non-quitter (apologies for the cheesy/ rap-like wording lol) is essential. If you want to tap into your destiny and find your purpose on this planet you have to fight for it and remain positive, even when things seem bleak. Life always gets better. 'A negative mind will never give you a positive life', not meaning to sound like one of these twitter therapists, but it's true, positivity is key!

As a famous leader once said "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that"

           - Dr. Martin Luther King

As an African-American man living in America, MLK was an outkast to society and yet he still fought for what he believed in through love, wisdom and truth. He never gave up on his destiny and till this day he is still deemed one of the greatest leaders of all time. If you ever do get the opportunity to study his life you will find that his mantra was literally love. If you truly want to tap into your destiny start to love yourself. Someone who loves themselves doesn't think they are worthless, or a waste of time. Someone who loves themselves is sure of themselves, even if you are not yet sure of your destiny you are sure in your talents, your abilities, your strengths. (Here's my post on learning to love yourself if you'd like to explore this prospect further).

Now don't get me wrong, not all of us are destined to be MLK's in this World. His vision and dream were formidable, but where would he be if nobody believed in him. If no-one took the courage to stand with him in his bid for change. Where would he be if he didn't have followers who marched peacefully in the name of his dream? Without them, I might not have been able to write this blog that you're reading. And that, is the beauty of destiny, of being who you are. Some man or woman in the '60s probably didn't think them marching was much of a big deal compared to what MLK was doing but without them, the World we live in would be very different...

I believe love and kindness is an essential part of destiny and that you should use positivity to create the path to your pre-destined purpose.

Well well, it would seem we've come to the end of part uno! If you're interested in learning some steps I've put in place to help you on your way to discovering your destiny, then click here and change your life! (Lol, just kidding, although I do hope it impacts your life positively) =]

Thanks for reading guys and have an amazing day!
