Dealing with Failure :(

Hey guys :)

It's so nice to finally get back to blogging! I have so many posts I want to share with you all but finding the time has been near enough impossible! Between travelling, uni, work, family and friends these past few weeks have been seriously hectic and I just haven't had the time to dedicate to my blogin' babies, but fear not! It would seem my schedule is kind of taking a functional turn and I'm settling into a fairly 'normal' (I'm not sure I even know what the word means anymore x_x) timetable. This is great news for you guys! ;)

Even though I've not had time to put fingers to keyboard, I always put pen to paper and I have some new shizz for you all to tune into and look forward to (even when I dissapear I still think about you guys!) n'aaawww how sweet! =]

So as you can all see, the topic I'm discussing today is failure and essentially how to cope with it and in fact, embrace it! Yes, embrace it... because let's face it, we're all going to go through it at some point in our lives and it really can make or break you. Even celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce, Cheryl Cole etc. etc. have been through failures but yet, thy still managed to become great and pursue their dreams. How did they do it? How did they get past the failure and move on? How did they not become defined by their failure...

Well I've recently been through a failure in life (I'm not quite ready to disclose all just yet lol.. still painful), and it can be seriously tough. As humans, we love and crave positivity. So when failure comes knocking on our doors, and knocks us a pedastool or 19 back it's a real shock to the system. It literally knocks us off our feet! It can make you question who you are, what your purpose is, even if there's any point in your existence. But don't worry, this is all normal lol. We're all natural born drama queens! :p

Anyway, its takes us aback and we get put in a position we don't want to be in, and this can be truly devastating but let me tell you now this is the point where you need to fight your hardest! When life wants to bring you down with failure push through it and get back on your feet! Do not let your failures define you, that is what your strength is for. That should be the only definitive factor in your life. For any of you going through any failure right now, understand that it does serve a purpose in your life and you can most definitely get through it.

Here are some tips I've come up with to help you beat failure!:

1. Have your moment!

It's okay to be sad! Scream, cry, chuck plates, prank call that prick from your psychology class.. (too far?) I mean ..talk to childline :) Whatever it is that is going to help you release all the negativity you feel, do it! (obviously it has to be legal lol)

2. Write it all down, but methodologically

It's good to keep a personal record of your life so one day you can look back and be truly proud of how far you've come and all the battles you've been through. In the case of failure however, I think it's important to be chronological with your thoughts:

  • Write down what you've failed i.e. Sacked from work
  • Next write down why you think you've failed... It's important to be honest if this is going to be of any benefit to you
  • Now write down what you did well and could have improved on (you're not all bad eh ;])
  • Finally start getting together a plan of action. How are you going to move on from this? If you've just been sacked, when are you going to start applying for jobs, update your CV, maybe think about going to the job centre. Alternatively you could invest in yourself, gain more skills, perhaps travel? Anything! But start planning it and plan it properly. This is your life, YOU are in control.

3. GO CRAZY! (My personal fave)

Now that you've got some sort of plan going and you're feeling a bit positive it's time to let loose before you start this new chapter in your life. Get with the girls and have a crazy night out or call up the boyf and have a netflix binge. Splurge on that dress you've wanted since like, forever! Orrr... if you're really adventurous do something you've never done before i.e. Skydiving for instance. It will get your adrenaline pumping and reintroduce you to that girl inside you that loves life!

Whatever you do make sure it makes you genuinely happy and helps you forget your current failure.

4. START AGAIN

This is where the work begins. You've had your fun now it's time to put your plan of action in motion!

5. GIVE IT YOUR ALL!

This potentially is the most important, give 100%! If you want it, go and get it; there's nobody stopping you.

You are the author of your own life story, it's time you grabbed that pen and start writing the chapters that you want!

Thanks for reading and have a blessed day guys :)
